End of Water Run Means the Begining of Maintenance Season

Dinuba, CA – Although the state of California is in the midst of another drought, Alta Irrigation District (Alta) and other
members of the Kings River Water Association are better equipped to navigate these conditions with a local water
supply. Water users on state and federal operated water projects face many challenges with intrastate water
conveyance during drought conditions that exacerbate water supply availability and water system operations. Even
with this year’s rainfall totaling less than the rainfall received in any year during the 2012-15 drought, it was the runoff
generated from rain and snowfall events in the Kings River watershed (above Pine Flat dam) that permitted and
sustained Alta’s water run.
